Marina Bay Academy Philosophy
At Marina Bay Academy, we believe in fostering a nurturing environment where children are encouraged to explore their individuality while developing essential social, emotional, and cognitive skills. We embrace a holistic approach to early childhood education, recognizing that each child is unique and requires personalized attention to thrive. Our curriculum is grounded in the understanding that play is a vital component of learning. Through guided play and interactive activities, children develop critical thinking, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills that serve as the foundation for lifelong learning. We are committed to creating a safe and inclusive space where children feel valued and respected. By fostering a sense of curiosity and wonder, we aim to inspire a love for learning that continues beyond the classroom. In partnership with families, we strive to support each child’s growth, ensuring they are well-prepared for the next steps in their educational journey.
With a Montessori inspired environment we believe in nurturing the natural curiosity of children by providing a balanced approach that blends the freedom of play with the structure of Montessori learning. Our philosophy is centered on creating a safe, engaging, and supportive environment where children can explore, learn, and grow at their own pace. Free Play: We believe that children learn best through play. Free play encourages creativity, problem-solving, and social interaction, allowing children to express themselves freely and develop essential life skills. Our daycare offers ample time for unstructured play, where children are free to choose their activities, interact with peers, and explore their interests. Montessori Approach: For two hours each day, we incorporate Montessori principles into our program. During this time, children engage in hands-on learning experiences with specially designed Montessori materials. The Montessori method encourages independence, concentration, and a love for learning. Children are guided by trained educators who observe and support their development, allowing them to discover knowledge through self-directed activity. By combining free play and Montessori methods, we aim to foster well-rounded development—intellectually, socially, emotionally, and physically.
At Marina Bay Academy, we also use an emergent curriculum, meaning we build our learning activities around the children’s own interests, questions, and discoveries. This responsive approach allows each child to explore topics that naturally engage them, making learning more meaningful and empowering. By weaving their interests into our curriculum, we foster a sense of ownership, curiosity, and excitement about learning.
